lalaland pt.2

We hit up The Ivy for lunch after going to Urth Caffe for breakfast. I always walk past The Ivy when shopping on Robertson Boulevard. Lots of celebrities have been photographed eating at the Ivy, inviting a swarm of photogs to linger outside the restaurant semi-permanently. Of course those celebs want to be photographed, or they wouldn't eat at The Ivy. It was really nice and sunny that day so we wanted a table on the patio. We were lucky enough to get a table outdoors but it was a really tight squeeze because the tables were really close to each other. I loved the white picket fence that surrounded the patio. It was covered with tacky Christmas lights and random plantation. Somehow it all came together in the midst of a high-end shopping district. We ordered Bellinis (mine was strawberry) to kick off our afternoon with something fresh. Deliciously blended and well balanced. Not too strong. Tiff ordered a salad with grilled shrimp and I ordered their famous Cobb Salad. I remember reading in a gossip magazine that Nicole Richie loved their Cobb Salad. It turned out rather mediocre. I'm a huge salad fan but this was just a normal salad with LOTS of blue cheese. The beets were a nice touch but the chicken was bland and the cheese was rather overpowering. I had to pick most of it out in order to finish my salad. I guess if I liked blue cheese more I would've loved this salad. Tiff's grilled shrimp salad on the other hand, was really delicious. The shrimp was seasoned and grilled really well, and the tomatoes were fresh and juicy. Overall, I would come for the atmosphere and to people watch. Its really nice to sit outdoors with a drink, or two. We totally saw one of the ladies from Housewives of Beverly Hills walk into a store leaving her bodyguards to guard her YSL Muse.

To nurse our aching feet from walking around all day long, we stopped at Sweet Lady Jane. It's a small bakery slash cafe on Melrose that sits about ten people. We met up with Nat so the three of us had to squeeze into a table meant for two. The cafe had a very classic American feel to it, from the decor to the pastries and cakes. We ordered a slice of blueberry pie. It was so delicious - the pie crust was buttery and flaky, the blueberry filling was fresh and not too sweet. It tasted like someone's grandmother made it in her kitchen, very traditional. This cafe is the perfect spot for people watching during the afternoon.
